I am a huge fan of PlayFirst games, especially of the “Dash” games, as I call them. Years ago, PlayFirst released the original Diner Dash which became a best-seller and inspired the release of other arcade games. All are centered in DinerTown, where Flo helps her friends fix their problems through stradegy and friendship.

The most recent game in this series I was able to play was Fitness Dash, another very fun game. The storyline, for one, is very exciting. Every year, Dinertown takes part in a Tug-Of-War game and usually ends up winning. But due to Flo’s most recent sale, the men are avoiding the gym and eating more. When it comes time for this year’s Tug-Of-War game, the men easily lose due to inadequate exercise. After Jo, the town’s gym instructor, speaks with Flo about her predicament, Flo agrees to lighten her menu while the men agree to begin their training again.
Like usual, Fitness Dash has five exciting rounds of ten levels. At first there are four, but the final round is unlocked after hard work through the first forty levels. There are five food-centered towns — Puddington, Meatropolis, Muffinburg, Candy Lane, and Donutville and the level menu is very exciting and colorful.

At the end of every set of ten levels, the player gets to actually play the Tug-Of-War game that Jo and Dinertown are training so hard for. In between the Dinertown players and the opponents, there is a puddle of chocolate. The game is played by clicking on blocks of color of four or more. You can click on the block to change their clocks, but you can actually lose the round if you fail to click on enough colored blocks. It’s very riveting, especially because even Jo is nervous!

Pretty much the only downside to this game is that the different gyms are very similar looking. Usually PlayFirst is good at this, making an incentive to get to the next level. The only difference from gym to gym is the equipment, but little else. There are three-starr upgrades, so the user can slowly but surely make everything in his or her gym much faster.

Fitness Dash was definitely worth the play. I think Hotel Dash still remains my favorite of all these games I have played so far, but go ahead and give this game a try. You can play the one-hour sample to see if you will enjoy it, here.
